Juno, Target, THREE

THREE.

Lest you think I try pop culture stuff but consistently hate it, yesterday I finally got around to watching Juno, and I loved it so much I watched the whole thing in one sitting when I should have been making Henry's birthday cake, and I sobbed so hard during the movie, and for so long AFTER the movie, that I completely soaked three handkerchiefs. I had tears FALLING OFF MY FACE. And they are welling up again as I type! (I'm sure it has nothing to do with My Baby turning THREE.)

THREE.

I felt similarly about the movie Little Miss Sunshine. But I know full well there are lots of people who thought both those movies were irritatingly hipster and also way over-hyped by irritating people who like to act all hipster, so don't feel shy if you LOVE the whole Twilight series. I think in fact that because the comments section on my too crabby to read Twilight right now post turned so amusingly anti-Twilight (did you click some of those links? HILARIOUS), we should have a private poll for people to express their pro-Twilight feelings. There, I'll put it over to the right. WE ACCEPT ALL KINDS HERE. Irritating hipsters, Twilight fans, three-year-olds, EVERYONE.

THREE.

I went to Target yesterday, and if you are experiencing Teh Crankiness (original poorly-thought-out version: The Crabs) may I suggest a similar treatment plan? There were CoverGirl lip glosses in the dollar section, the very ones I've wanted to try but didn't want to risk it at $5 per color. I bought five, and I've tried three so far and I love all of them although really I only needed one because they pretty much all look the same: they look like lip gloss. Perfect for wearing a little bit of make-up when actual make-up seems inconsistent with the sun and sweat.

They also had a deal where if you buy two Olay products you get a $5 giftcard, and it even applied to the $3.69 face wash. And I have wanted to try that but felt sheepish spending $3.69 on it. So I bought two of them and they were only $1.19 each, and now I have something new and fun to try in the shower, which I find mood-lifting. And then after the shower, I can try either my COOL CUCUMBER or my OO-LA-LA LAVENDER deodorants, both of which were on clearance! And then the lip gloss! I realize these are small things but VERY CHEERING nevertheless.

Oh, plus! Henry has been very interested in tools lately, and I found a baby toolbench thing at 75% off, and you wouldn't think he'd like it at his advanced age but he LOVES it and pounds the "nails" back and forth through the bench again and again and again.

I love the mis-matched shoes on the wrong feet with the helmet. He just looks so proud of what he has accomplished.

I simply can't believe he's three already. I remember- and it seems like maybe only a yearish ago- when you posted that photo of the bandaid on his little foot.

The other thing that would not compute in my brain? That LONG, TALL, adultish looking child in the background. Must be a neighbor kid, right?

And for the record, I like the Twilight books ok, couldn't make it through the first 1/2 hour of the first movie, LOVED Juno, and though Little Miss Sunshine was pretty good. =)

THREE! WOW! I remember first reading your blog from Before Henry existed. Time flies!

I haven't read any Twilight books but my 3 daughters have. LOVED Juno and Little Miss Sunshine.

And can I say how awesome it is that my oldest daughter just got a summer job at Target??? 10% discount, baby!!

You have a phone with one of those long, springy cords! It has honestly been at least a decade since I have seen one of those!

Happy Birthday Henry! Three is a very fun age.

Happy birthday baby! <3 Juno made me cry and cry too. I loved it! And, as I mentioned in my last comment - I read and loved the Twilight series. there - I said it.

Henry looks like he is ready to have BIG FUN being THREE!

Good to know on the Olay deal. I'm getting low on moisturizer, and I actually use their sensitive skin moisturizer, which I even have a couple of coupons for. Maybe I'll get two. Or get one and try something else out. Maybe I'll check out the face wash. In any case another trip to Target is definitely in my future!

I think you are handling THREE quite well! He's still so dear and he'll always be your baby.

Read all Twilight books and saw the movies and neither loved nor hated them. Where is the section in your poll to check.."meh"?
Also, Target? Have you checked the sites totally devoted to shopping there? Some of the couponing can be a headache, but when you find those $5 gift card deals and get stuff for free it makes Target even more fun! (possible?)

I bought that tool bench thing for my baby cousin who will be about 16 months old when we see her next- and my 2 year old has been doing product testing on it. Just to make sure it's fun enough for Emma.

Happy birthday to Henry!

I love everything... the Twilight books, Juno, Little Miss Sunshine... all of it! Maybe I should have more discerning tastes.

Aw, happy birthday! So cute. And, I know what you mean. Little things are so cheering, even when they are everyday things like deoderant or body wash. Happy!

My 3rd baby's 3rd birthday was Saturday. His sister (6 this Friday) made him a religious card. We are about as religious as the Swistles, so, yeah, "I love you as mush as I can for the love of God"... awkward.

Juno was just meh for me. Little Miss Sunshine I thought was fantastic at times, but then ended on the meh side. Haven't read/seen Twilight; the thought of it makes me twitchy.

Aww, Henry is so cute at age THREE. lol. Happy Birthday to him!

I love Juno and Little Miss Sunshine too. And Twilight (the books, not the movies).

Happy birthday, Henry! It seems like you were born just a year or so ago!

Twilight: I am afraid to read it. I am pretty much certain I will hate it, and I don't want to have any familiarity with it so that when people ask me, "Do you love it?!" I can just shrug in blissful ignorance and move on! I know I'm avoiding Normal Culture (just like my avoidance of Facebook) but I have to make the decision I can live with.
Juno: It WAS a bit heavy on hipster reference, sure, but so so good. I love Jason Bateman. And I cry every time I get to the end of it. Or even sit and think about the end in too much detail.
Three: Yep, Eli too in a few weeks. I kind of can't believe it's already been three years, and on the other hand, there were some newborn nights that felt like three years all by themselves! Children and time are a strange and bewildering contradiction, it feels.

Er, that's a few MONTHS, not weeks. August 30th. Sorry kid!

LOVE that picture with the 2 different shoes! So sweet it makes my teeth ache. ;-)

I'm right there with you on the moods. One of the commenters mentioned going to her OB and her homones. I've been totally thinking this must be the issue and will have to get my butt to the doctor before my family disowns me!

Ask my girls what mommy thinks of Twilight...they know I love it. Before kids I read all of the time and then for a good 5 years I never picked up a single book. A girlfriend gave me the books so, in a quiet moment, I thought what the heck. They were such an easy read that I buzzed thru them all in a week. Now I'm reading again and I totally thank the Twilight series for getting me back into a passtime that I love.

As far as the movies are concerned, don't bother unless you end up liking the books. More than anything I'm curious to see how they are going to make some of the book events/people happen on the big screen.

I don't know if you've thought about it, but that is one stylish gentelman. Perhaps a few extra dollars to stash away for college could be made by consulting other little boys in the neighborhood. The two different shoes/helmet combo is way ahead of its time!

Oh, happy birthday to Henry! My big turns three in two weeks, sniff, sniff.

He's not three. You're fibbing. It's impossible.

Target always makes me feel better, true story.

Though I linked to a snarky website which truly is HILARIOUS I should have also admitted to being totally sucked into Twilight. Even as I was reading and thinking "really? REALLY?" and "wow, awkward writing" and "hey, another typo" I was also thinking " WHAT WILL HAPPEN? MUST KNOW! MUST READ!" and thus read the entire series in about 6 days. Crazy but true. I joke with a friend that they lace the pages with crack because seriously, why so addictive, Twilight?

Aw, happy birthday, kiddo!

I don't care what anyone says: I love Juno and it will always be one of my most favorite films of all time. I sobbed great big HUGE heaving sobs when I first saw it (it was winter, and I was wearing a scarf which - no joke - was DRIPPING wet by the time I left the theater), and have done so on each subsequent viewing. LOVE. And I tend to get really defensive when people say they didn't like it. It was BRILLIANT! BRILLIANT, I say!

I'm in the couldn't care less about Twilight group. I watched the movie, probably will never see the second one, but haven't had the inclination to HATE. I wish you had a meh vote in your poll.

Also, this comment belongs to several other posts, but for the record I am a cat and dog person. One of my lifetime dreams is to get a puppy and kitten together and then they can be BEST FRIENDS. But I kinda like dogs a little more than cats.

I didn't like Juno but love Little Miss Sunshine so much. So many great moments in that movie. And your Henry is so giggly-looking. :)
