Or for adults, too, really.

I used to think it was great because I could just bleach it, but now I see the error of my ways

I put my daughter in a white shirt the other day. It was stained before we left the house for school!

The worst part is that I know this will happen, but I put her in white anyway!

**my word verification is POOINGS which is also a very good reason for NOT wearing white.**

Yes, I was just noticing last night how perfectly revolting all of our socks are. (I only buy white for matching purposes.)

Is it reasonable to chuck them all in the garbage and just go buy new ones?

No. Really.

I KNOW! Zack's spring show required that they wear a plain white t-shirt. I don't buy him white usually but found one for $4 at Target. It was stained BEFORE we got there. WTF child?

I heartily agree.

I dressed the baby in ALL WHITE today. It IS a cute little outfit that someone bought for him.

But as I dropped him off at the babysitter I thought "well, this outfit should be ruined by the end of the day."

Funny you should post about white clothes this morning

Amen to that! Maybe try layering the white, or send a jacket with them?

I only wear white if I have a jacket or something, and I make sure to cover the white up/take it off (if I have the luxury to be at home) before I start eating.

Funny! Just the other day I was thinking about how, when I was a child, my mother would dress me in white and I'd be perfectly miserable all day long, knowing that she expected me to keep it clean and knowing that, inevitably, I would find a way to stain it.

I just bought my non-walking child white pants for Easter. I must have been drunk.

I don't wear white. Gabriel only gets to have white undershirts.

AMEN.

And the cute white t-shirts with precious designs on the front (which can't be bleached) AGH!

Thank God for Clorox pens -- you know a Mom designed those things!

NOT if you are photographing your children and use the band-aid tool in PhotoShop! YOU taught me that one, IDOL!!!! :) ~Jenny in MD

I don't even wear white anymore. After ruining numerous blouses I finally faced the truth - I cannot be trusted in white. My MIL just suggested she make bumpers and crib sheets for my daughter out of fabic that is mainly white. My only explanation is that she REALLY has no memory at all of what babies/children are like.

Especially on boys. I never ever buy white for boys.

I agree white is only good for layering. For both adults and kids.

I pulled a white long-sleeved t-shirt over my daughter's head this morning before I noticed how completely grubby it was around the neck and wrists, not to mention the paint and marker stains. We were running late for music class so I didn't change her. At least her overalls covered most of it up.

This morning my boss came in with coffee stains on the front of her white shirt : )

If you MUST go with white, go with all white- then bleach the stains out. I like the bleach pens for this.

BTW, I love all white for taking photos of the kids (or for letting pro's do it), but otherwise, wild patterns hide the stains best. =)

You should buy shirts to match your new cloth napkin colors - all tomato stain color.

Which is sad, because white looks really nice on Harper...

She has a t-shirt my sister bought her which is fake-layered, mostly pink with white long sleeves. BUT the sleeves are gross. It is officially not a shirt she can wear to school any more. What is it with kids using sleeves to wipe their mouths? Wait. Maybe that's just my kid.

Oh, my MIL bought her a really cute outfit that is this little swing top and white capris... one trip down a playground slide and those will be done for. Le sigh.

(I'm smiling at the chorus of comments you've gotten for posting one sentence! Also wondering what prompted that statement this morning.)

white is also a terrible color for cloth napkins.

I'll make note of that.

It's also horrible for living room furniture and comforters. Pssst, pass it on. . . .

I have armpit stains in all my white tee shirts. C'mon! Who wouldn't want to know that!?

There is nothing I love more than a crisp white button-down or a new white t-shirt. Sadly the love is soon replaced by hate EVERY TIME. Spring is the worst time for trying to avoid this temptation.

In other news, I GOT MY NAPKINS YESTERDAY!!! Not only do I thank you so much, but I wonder how you knew what colors to throw in there - if you could only see the curtains and placemats in my dining room, you too would be amazed. I must take a picture and send it to you. I will do that.
THANK YOU!!!

Bleach is your friend! No?

Stacie said...

NO! White is wonderful because of bleach. As long as it is solid white. White with patterns or stripes that will fade is evil.

Pink is evil because you cannot use bleach but it still shows everything.

I love white, for myself. Even though white attracts chocolate like a magnet. And chocolate doesn't quite fade away. Still, there is something about the elegance of white I can't forget...
