Fashion Show

Now...what was I going to say? Oh yes! It seems impossible, but I don't think I ever showed you the pictures of all the stuff I bought on awesome clearances at The Children's Place! Oh, it is so pretty and fun. Why oh why do they not sell everything in MY size?

Anyway. First, here is everything I bought for Elizabeth for this fall and winter:

Skirts and corduroy pants in green/pink/brown. One patterned skirt. Seven long-sleeved shirts.

And then I bought a bunch of short-sleeved shirts that will go great with the same skirts and pants for spring, and then those same shirts can go with shorts/capris for summer:

The embarrassingly tall, teetering, falling-over heap in the upper right corner is all the shirts I got for $1 each at Target's end-of-summer clearance. Then there are eight shirts from TCP with pictures on them, and the same skirts and pants as in the previous picture.

Here is what I bought for Henry, Fourthborn Boy Who Wears Tattered Handmedowns:

Four long-sleeved shirts, one short-sleeved, one pair of corduroy overalls he unfortunately outgrew within a month.

And now, of course, a fashion show. This is a sampling of Elizabeth's mix-and-match potential for fall/winter (I just love TCP):

And then only ONE picture of Henry in his new duds. How does this happen? Poor Henry. Look at him, though, clearly WORKING IT.

I love the Children's Place! We have an out let by us, and at the end of the season, I stock up for the following season, and walk out with huge bags full for under 100$ - it is so gratifying and it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside to get such great deals! That's sad isn't it? That I get my warm and fuzzies from shopping for baby/toddler clothes. Sigh.

Oh, and I understand about you taking the posts down...but I sure hope you saved them somewhere and didn't just delete them. You could start an anonymous blog where you post all your old archives. So many people could relate and benefit from those stories, it would be such a shame for them to "disappear" ya know?

Look at Elizabeth, that fashionista! Cait has many of the same clothes, which I also acquired on deep discount at TCP.

Henry, as always, is adorable.

Thanks for keeping me company as I work on a Saturday. Blech Blech Blech.

I love mix 'n match children's clothes! Makes it so hard for Hubs to screw up when he dresses the kiddos.

I can see why you would take down those posts too. You would never want anyone to judge you or Paul unfairly for a difficult time in your lives. It's hard to remember that not everyone is so understanding and kind as the blogging mommies (or, at times, cruel and unusual!). :-)

Must...refrain...from cheek squeezing!

Terribly cute and the clothes are nice, too!

I'm sorry about your posts, but now I'm awfully glad I powered through them in the weeks after giving birth to the twins! Whew!

AndreAnna- I'm so jealous of your outlet! So jealous! Yes, I saved the posts as drafts, and also in wp documents for back-up. I've considered starting a Swistle Confidential blog, which I would tell family and friends not to read.

Awww, you have cute kids! Also, doing my Christmas shopping for my niece at TCP, since you turned me on to it.

Nice purchases! I just bought a bunch of stuff at 20% OldNavy.com. I do love to bargain shop for the kids. I despise weeding out the clothes that don't fit though. Kids just aren't into modeling to see what fits. I put on one outfit and they are outta there!

CUTE!

Adorable! That last picture of Henry is too cute.
And also I agree with omaha mama: One of the best things about mix and match clothing is that the husband can pull any shirt and any pair of pants out of the drawer and there is a much greater chance that the two items will actually coordinate.

CUTE CUTE CUTE! I can't believe how GOOD you are at finding such deals. I suck at it! It seems when I reach the clearance rack, after seeing all the gorgeous NEW stuff, that there are only two mismatched things in the sizes I need, and they're ugly. How do you do it?

Your kids are so adorable, Swistle. Oh yeah, and I like the clothes, too.

Your children are so darling! I am also a TCP whore. But I only have boys. I couldn't imagine how bad it would be if there was a GIRL, too!

And I understand about removing your posts. I have not revealed the name of my blog to my brother for that very reason. I was angry with him for a long time. I don't think he needs to read about that. Or, maybe he does.

Those pics are great! I love scouting out bargains for Little Elvis, but have never had any luck at our TCP. My mom finds great deals at the one near her, though.

Adorable! I am totally envious of AndreAnna's TCP outlet!

What a cute modeling baby boy.

Oh, and I thought of you as I got 18-month sized jeans for $3.44 at Target. Swistle - my inspiration for bargain shopping.

Adorable clothes for completely adorable kids. That one of Henry, my gosh, he's a model in training.

I'm having baby clothes shopping withdrawl. I haven't bought my son anything in a few months when I got most of his fall clothes. I must remember in the future to spread out the buying love. It's better for my mood. Although I'm thinking I can spare some of my Christmas budget for a few new things. ;)

I love TCP too. I also wish their stuff came in my size. Our closest one is a ways away and it's an "outlet". Some of my monster's fave clothes are from there and she totally outgrew them directly.

Cute stuff.

I miss shopping for little girls...and you are so in trouble with Henry when he gets older. That look...the pictures of the smiles...oh the phone will be ringing.

Oh, that last picture...made me forget everything you'd written. Just look at him ... the thinker!

Wow Swistle- you are the empress of clearance buying. I'm utterly impressed. Wish I could get to the states on a regular basis to do some shopping!
I understand about removing the entries although I'd love to keep hearing about the stuff that family shouldn't read.
I have that problem myself, I can't count how many times my mom has called me a said- are you really going to have that out on the internet?! Sigh.

Misty said...

Wait...the Children's Place had a clearance? Gah! I missed it again. :(

Erica said...

May I please have one of your children? They are so cute and I only have one child and you have five. Surely you can spare Henry?

Swistle said...

Misty- It was a long time ago--like, back in September. I'm just posting late! I'm hoping for another clearance in the next...month or two? Seems like they usually have a good winter clearance after Christmas, but I can't remember.

I love the fashion shows. Thanks for including Henry clothes, has me thinking buying little boy clothes might be nearly as much fun as little girl clothes!

(Oh, and the secret is out, whew!)

You know, you mentioned having to edit your blog, and I felt so angry For you. I had to do the same darn thing when my nosy, gossiping sister in law discovered my own blog awhile back. She shared it with her husband, who told my father in law, who told my husband . It was so incredibly hateful of her, and I have never forgiven her. I have lost a certain amount of joy in blogging as well. Since then I have had to block her twice from it, and now I hardly ever say anything . I had created the blog to share things about my life with my family ( who live really far away ) and what was in it was not really any of her business.

I hope that you don't lose your enjoyment of your own blog. I am sorry for anyone who has to edit their own thoughts and feelings so as not to upset the extended family.

On another note, I really enjoyed your entry about trying to get kids and your self ready to go with the ''help '' of your husband. I've only got 2 kids, but my husband is just as ''helpful'' as he can be .

Ah, I love the fashion show and how cute is little Mr Henry working it for the camera! That is awesome! Thanks for sharing :)

Kelsey- YAY YAY YAY!!! Can we talk about NAMES now? Boy clothes and boy names are not AS fun (for me) as girl clothes and girl names, but they can be very satisfying nevertheless.

Becca- URG, that would make me SO MAD! It's easier in my case, I think, since I'm voluntarily doing it. I COULD just not tell the family about SundryBuzz, and then I could still have my secret blog...but...it is still a little sad to edit. If I start "losing the joy" (that's a great way to put it!) I'll reconsider.

I first started reading you around the time that you found out about Henry. Your heartbreaking and yet loving posts got me hooked. The internet has no say in what you put up or take down, and I do understand why you would want to take those posts down. However, I personally thank you for having them up when you did.
